Shipping Containers offer easy, cheap accomodation

The thought of transforming abandoned, useless shipping containers may sound ridiculous, but once you have a look at what you can actually do with them, your notion changes. An "experiment" at the moment, you can expect the recycled containers to cost between $2,000 and $3,000. The homes use anywhere from four to eight containers (each sized 8x40-feet), can include stuff like solar panels, green roofs, radiant heating and other environmentally friendly or energy efficient features. David Cross, founder of SG Blocks, a company that modifies containers at 17 U.S. locations, says there are about 75 homes nationwide using shipping containers.
