More and more, the answer is: probably not. In the previous generation of gaming machines, it wasn't uncommon for people to own both a PlayStation 2 and an Xbox. Today that's increasingly rare. Message boards are filled with gamers pondering whether to sell one system so they can afford the other. That decision often comes down to which console most of their friends use. This is doubly true in a rocky economy.
