Today's a big day for Lenovo. The company today annonuced a new brand of laptops "IdeaPad" that complements their famous ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops. The first notebooks to be introduced under IdeaPad brand are Intel Centrino processor technology powered Y510, Y710 and U110. All of them comes with facial recognition technology, Dolby Home Theatre surround sound, dedicated gaming controls, frameless screens, touch-sensitive control surfaces and unique textures. The Y710 is a 17-inch notebook computer with Intel Penryn (2.5Ghz C2D T9300), 1440 x 900 screen resolution, ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 (256 MB) graphics card, 500GB hard drive, up to 4GB RAM, Blu-Ray DVD reader, 1.3 mega pixel camera, a/b/g/n wireless, 4 hourse of battery life, and Vista Home Premium. It'll be available from this month with a starting price of $1,199.

The IdeaPad Y510 ($799) is a 15.4-inch laptop with 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo T5550 processor, Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (up to 256 MB) graphics, 250GB HDD, 4GB memory, and same other specs.

The IdeaPad U110, an ultraportable 11-inch widescreen notebook PC, weighs only 2.3 pounds and is 0.7 inches deep. The textured design embedded in its red aluminum alloy top cover blends style and durability. Lenovo also equipped select configurations with solid state disk and Active Protection System, an air bag-like device that parks the hard drive to help protect data during a fall.
